The 73rd Republic Day of India was celebrated on 26th January, 2022 in the premises of Maharishi University of Information Technology, Lucknow, UttarPradesh. All the faculty members and staff assembled for Republic Day Celebration.The Convenor,Mr.Ankit Srivastava (Dean Commerce & Management)hosted the programme.

The event commenced with the hoisting of National Flag at 09:00am by Hon’bleChief Guest, Major Gen. Ashok Kumar, VSM (Rtd.), Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MUIT, Prof. B.P. Singh, Hon’ble Registrar, MUIT, Prof. AkhandPratap Singh and Dean-Academics,Mr.Sapan Asthana,and other dignitaries, followed by the National Anthem.  Thereafter, lamp lightening was done by the dignitaries, who also paid their reverence by offering flowers to Maharishi Mahesh Yogiji, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patelji and to Netaji Subhash Chandra Boseji. 

Then the dignitaries were formally welcomed and a potted plant was gifted to them as a token of honour. The programme proceeded further with the welcome speech of Dean Academics, who apprised the audience that ‘Azadika Amrit Mahotsav’ was an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. He also expressed his sincere gratitude for the chief Guest for sparing his valuable time to attend the Republic Day celebration at MUIT.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Hon’ble Registrar blessed the audience with their greetings, best wishes and motivational words. They conveyed their gratitude to the Hon’bleChief guest for his esteemed presence. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor stated that adverse conditions are those in which soldiers stand on borders, away from their families and sacrifice their life for the nation. Hon’ble Registrar emphasisedon strict observance of Covid protocol and motivated to contribute to the society by spreading awareness about the same.

Hon’bleChief Guest, in his address, lauded the valuable contribution of countrymen in the strengthening of the nation and boosting the morale of the soldiers. Recalling the war with China and Kargil war, he emphasized that “The victory with values is important”. He motivated the audience with instances from life of legends like martyr Bhagat Singh,Swami Vivekanand and achievements of Sher Shah Suri; and emphasised on the importance of morals, time as invaluable resource and focussing on our goal so as to earn a name for oneself.

The students of BBA- Janvi, Akansha and Yashiperformed on a patriotic song which washighly appreciated by all.  The winners ofessay competition(organised on the theme of Republic Day) were awarded on the occasion by the digintaries. Mr.AniketSaini (B.Pharma, I semester),Ms.KomalVerma (B.Com, III semester) and Mr.Tushar Kanojia (B.Sc.- PCM, I semester) won the I, II and III prize, respectively.

The Republic Day celebration concluded with a vote of thanks presented bythe Convenor and the distribution of refreshments to all.

Under the able guidance of Hon’ble VC, Registrar and Dean-Academics, the programme was successfully organized and managed with an excellent coordination and hardwork of Convenor (Mr.Ankit Srivastava, Dean-Commerce& Management), Programme Co-ordinators(Dr. Himani Kulshreshtha, Ms.Ritika Kaushik and Ms.Rishika Kaushik), student volunteers and support staff.
