International Women’s Day 2025

Organised by: Maharishi School of Science and Humanities in coordination with IQAC Cell

 

Objective: On March 8, 2025, the Department of Humanities (MSOSH), MUIT Lucknow Campus celebrated International Women's Day to honour women's achievements and resilience across various fields. By organizing this event, the department aimed to foster a culture of respect and equality, motivating future generations to work towards an inclusive society.

Participants: Deans, faculty, staff, and students from all Schools actively took part in the event.

Event Details: The event began with Guru Pujan. Dr Rupam Singh, Dean (MSOSH), delivered the welcome address, extending warm greetings to the esteemed guests, faculty, and students. She emphasized the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment in today's world.

The event was graced by Dr Nirupama Singh (SGPGI, Lucknow)- a renowned Dietician and a social activist, who delivered a powerful keynote lecture titled "Current Challenges Faced by Women and Solutions."

Dr Singh’s lecture addressed several critical social issues, including domestic violence, workplace harassment, and the pressing need to confront gender inequality and economic disparity. She highlighted the significance of women transitioning from being decision-takers to decision-makers in all facets of life. Health concerns were also a focus, particularly the rising cases of cervical and breast cancer, for which she advocated preventative care and vaccinations. Additionally, she discussed the challenges of balancing parenting with the demands of modernization and societal change. Throughout her address, Dr Singh encouraged attendees to acknowledge the historical strength of women in ancient India and to reclaim their rightful place in society while fostering mutual respect between genders.

A quiz competition led by Dr Manoj Singh was conducted to enhance students’ awareness of women’s rights and significant achievements throughout history. Furthermore, students Akansha, Upasana, Urvashi, and Vansika shared touching poetry recitations that honoured womanhood and the enduring strength of women through the ages. Dr Vijay Srivastava delivered the concluding remarks, expressing gratitude to the speakers, participants, and organizers for their contributions. The event was anchored by Vansika Tiwari (BA-II Sem) and coordinated under the guidance of Mr. R. P. Dixit.

 Students’ feedback: The students expressed gratitude for the International Women’s Day celebration, appreciating its blend of knowledge and creativity. They found the keynote lecture enlightening, emphasizing women's empowerment and the importance of raising their voices.  Overall, they valued the event organized by MUIT Lucknow and looked forward to more opportunities for awareness and empowerment.
