Visit to the State Museum, Lucknow

Objective: The educational tour to the State Museum, Lucknow, organized by the Department of Humanities (MSOSH), MUIT Lucknow Campus on April 25, 2025, aimed to deepen students' understanding of historical heritage through direct engagement with artifacts and themed galleries.
Participating Students: 30 students from B.A. Semester IV actively engaged in the tour.
Event Details: The tour commenced at 10:30 AM from the University campus, with students visiting the State Museum in Lucknow. During the visit, they explored several significant galleries that offered a deep insight into diverse cultural and historical heritages. The Egypt Gallery captivated the students with artifacts from ancient Egyptian civilization, while the Jain Art Gallery provided a glimpse into the religious and cultural legacy of Jainism. The Buddha Art Gallery displayed exquisite sculptures and paintings reflecting the Buddhist tradition. Students also explored the Awadh Art Gallery, which highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Awadh region. The Coin Gallery presented a fascinating collection of ancient coins from various eras, and the Sculpture Gallery featured remarkable sculptures from different historical periods. The Terracotta Gallery displayed intricate traditional clay artworks, and the Painting Gallery offered an impressive range of paintings from various artistic eras, enriching the students' understanding of artistic evolution across time.
The students were deeply engaged throughout the visit, showing enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity. The exposure to tangible historical evidence helped them connect their theoretical knowledge with real-world artefacts, thereby enhancing their critical understanding of history and culture.
The educational tour concluded with the group’s return to the university by 3:30 PM, leaving participants with a deeply enriching and memorable experience. Organized and led by Dr. Arti Gupta, the visit fostered active learning, critical thinking, and a stronger appreciation for history and heritage. The Department of Humanities aims to continue organizing similar initiatives for the holistic development of its students.
Students’ Feedback: B.A. Semester IV (History) students found the educational visit to the State Museum, Lucknow, both enlightening and inspiring. Experiencing historical artifacts and diverse galleries first-hand enriched their academic understanding and sparked engaging discussions on India’s cultural heritage.
