“78th Independence Day Celebration”

Objective of the Event: To instill a sense of patriotism and national pride among students and attendees by commemorating the nation's independence.

Participants: Students, faculty and non-teaching staff members were the primary participants of the event.

The Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2024 at both the campuses (Lucknow and Noida) of Maharishi University of Information Technology. The program was organized by IQAC, MUIT and was coordinated by Event & Cultural Committee of the respective Campuses. The event began with the assembly of attendees, and guests on the ground. Commodore Ashok Bhal VSM IN (Retd.) and Air Vice Marshal C.S. Prakash (Retd.)  graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at Lucknow and Noida campus, respectively. At Noida Campus, Brigadier (Dr.) A. K. Tyagi graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

The celebrations began with a formal welcome of the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and the other dignitaries, followed by the hoisting of the national flag by the distinguished Guests at the respective campuses. As the flag was unfurled, the crowd stood in attention, and the national anthem was sung with great pride and unity.

Following the flag hoisting, Dr. Trapty Agarwal (Dean Academics) at Noida Campus and Dr. Sapan Asthana (Dean, Student Welfare) at Lucknow Campus, delivered the welcome address, greeting the dignitaries, and all attendees. The speech highlighted the significance of the day and paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters who paved the way for the nation's independence. The Chief Guests and the Guest of Honour, were then felicitated with angavastra, planted pot, and memento as tokens of gratitude for their presence, which added great value to the event.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) B. P. Singh delivered an inspiring speech, reflecting on India's journey since independence and emphasizing the role of education in nation-building. He also encouraged the students to uphold the values of freedom and responsibility.

The Guest of Honor, Brigadier (Dr.) A. K. Tyagi, addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech, emphasizing the values of independence and the importance of the younger generation in upholding these values.

Then the Chief Guests addressed the gathering at respective campuses. Air Vice Marshal C. S. Prakash (Retd.), who reflected on the historical significance of Independence Day and urged everyone to contribute towards the nation's continued development. Commodore Ashok Bhal, in his address, spoke about the significance of Independence Day, the challenges faced by the nation, and the need for collective effort to safeguard the country's sovereignty. He also shared his experiences and motivated the students to contribute positively to society.

The program was interspersed with beautiful performances by the students, each reflecting theme of patriotism, freedom, and unity. The performances, ranging from dances and skits to musical renditions, were met with enthusiastic applause, showcasing the creativity and dedication of the students. At Lucknow campus, Vanshika Tiwari (BA I sem) recited a patriotic poem and Vishal Singh (B. Pharm III sem) performed a patriotic song that filled the atmosphere with fervour and enthusiasm. At Noida Campus, there were great performances by students including dances, songs and poems.

As the event neared its conclusion, Dean Academics (Lucknow Campus) Dr. Neeraj Jain and Dy. Dean Academics (Noida Campus) Dr. (Prof.) Smita Mishra delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, participants, and organizers for making the program a success. Special appreciation was extended to the students for their exceptional performances and to the faculty members for their efforts in organizing the event.

The program concluded with the national anthem, which once again filled the air with a deep sense of patriotism. Finally, sweets were distributed among the students and attendees, marking the end of a memorable and successful Independence Day celebration.
