National Sports Day-2025

Date: 29th – 30th August 2025

Organised by: Sports Committee (MUIT Lucknow Campus) in Association with IQAC

Objective: In compliance with UGC notification; National Sports Day–2025 was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, widely regarded as the “Wizard of Hockey.” The national sports day-2025 organized by the Sports Committee in association with IQAC. The event aimed to promote the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical fitness among students, while also recognizing the integral role of sports in holistic personality development and national pride.

Participating Students: The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students across diverse disciplines of the University, alongside faculty members and staff who encouraged the sporting spirit.

Event details:

The two-day celebration (29th–30th August 2025) commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony, where the legacy of Major Dhyan Chand was remembered and his unparalleled contribution to Indian hockey was highlighted. The celebrations began with an inspiring address by Prof. (Dr.) Neeraj Jain, Dean Academics, MUIT Lucknow Campus. In her motivational speech, she emphasized the vital role of sports in shaping character, urging students to cultivate teamwork, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence both on and off the field. Her words infused the gathering with energy and positivity, setting the tone for the day’s events. She also highlighted the strong connection between sports and academics, encouraging students to adopt a balanced approach that nurtures both physical fitness and intellectual growth for overall well-being. Dr. Sapan Asthana highlighted the values of teamwork and leadership, and also administered the Sportsmanship Pledge, wherein students vowed to uphold integrity, fairness, and discipline in all sporting endeavors; while Dr. Vikas Kumar Shukla, Dean Student Welfare, highlighted the significance of unity and fair play, urging participants to uphold integrity and show respect towards their peers throughout the competitions. The Sports Convener appreciated the students’ spirited enthusiasm, encouraging active involvement and reaffirming the committee’s dedication to fostering sporting talent at MUIT through sustained guidance and support for future endeavors.

A series of spirited competitions was organized in the following categories:

  1. Badminton
  2. Shot Put
  3. Discus Throw

All events were held at the Sports Ground, MUIT Lucknow Campus, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across different departments. The competitions were conducted in a fair and disciplined manner, fostering healthy rivalry and camaraderie among the participants. Winners in each category were felicitated by the organizing committee, and their achievements were applauded by peers and faculty alike. These acknowledgments not only celebrated individual excellence but also reinforced the significance of sportsmanship and collective participation.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vikas Kumar Shukla, who expressed gratitude to the participants, faculty coordinators, and university administration for their support in making National Sports Day–2025 a resounding success.

 

Students’ Feedback: The celebration fostered a vibrant atmosphere of enthusiasm, healthy competition, and camaraderie. Students acknowledged the event as an inspiring platform to showcase their talents, develop team spirit, and relieve academic stress through recreational engagement. Many participants expressed motivation to pursue sports more actively as a complement to academics, recognising its value in character building and overall well-being.
