World Pharmacist Day & Two-Day Free Health Check-up Camp

Organised by: Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MUIT Lucknow Campus), in association with IQAC and in collaboration with Hind Hospital & Maternity Centre, Tata 1mg, and Procter & Gamble (P&G)
Objective: The Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSOPS), MUIT Lucknow, in collaboration with esteemed partners, organized a two-day community and academic initiative to mark World Pharmacist Day 2025. The aim was to provide free medical consultations, promote preventive healthcare, enhance awareness on personal and women’s hygiene, and encourage students to appreciate the evolving role of pharmacists in society.
Participating Students: 20 student volunteers actively participated in the Free Health Check-up Camp at Parshad karyalay, Allu Nagar Diguriya, supporting doctors and patients, while D. Pharm and B. Pharm students of MSOPS engaged in various activities including health screening, seminars, guest lectures, and awareness sessions.
Event Details:
Free Health Checkup Camp: A Free Health Check-up Camp (Nihshulk Swasthya Jaanch Shivir) was organized at Allu Nagar Diguriya, Lucknow, in association with Hind Hospital & Maternity Centre. The healthcare team comprising Dr. Tabrez Khan (MS, ENT), Dr. Sakshi Ojha (General Physician), Dr. Arzo Fatima (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), Ms. Muskan (Nursing Officer), and Mr. Saqib (Nursing Officer) provided specialist consultations in general medicine, ENT, and obstetrics & gynaecology. Patients received health check-ups, prescriptions, and counselling on preventive measures, while awareness sessions were held on cleanliness and nutrition, prevention and control of infectious diseases, and maternal and child health counselling. Student volunteers assisted with registration, patient coordination, prescription handling, and medicine dispensing, gaining valuable practical exposure, and several cases requiring follow-up were identified for advanced care.
Other activities: World Pharmacist Day was celebrated at MUIT Lucknow Campus in collaboration with Tata 1mg, P&G, and IQAC, featuring a Blood Test Camp conducted by the Tata 1mg team (Mr. Prasan Srivastava, Mr. Abu Quasid, and Mr. Abhishek Mishra), offering free Ayushya Health Screening for MUIT staff and optional paid tests, along with a Women Hygiene & Wellness Seminar conducted by P&G representatives (Ms. Swati Tiwari, Ms. Soumya Singh, and Ms. Shikha Shukla) for female students, and a Personal Hygiene Session for male students. Whisper and Gillette products were distributed free of cost, and a guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Gaurav Kaithwas (Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Dean- Academic Affairs, BBAU), who discussed the current scenario and challenges in pharmacy as well as strategies for professional growth and career development. The entire event was smoothly coordinated by the faculty and student volunteers of MSOPS, ensuring efficient registration, guidance, and participation.
The two-day initiative was a meaningful blend of community service, academic enrichment, and professional awareness, reinforcing MUIT’s commitment to social responsibility, healthcare awareness, and advancing the role of pharmacists in society.
Students’ Feedback: Students appreciated the real-life learning opportunities in patient interaction, prescriptions, dispensing, testing, seminars, and guest lecture highly informative, motivating them to understand the broader responsibilities of pharmacists in healthcare.
