Educational Visit to ICAR-Central Institute for Sub-tropical Horticulture, Lucknow

Organised by: Maharishi School of Agriculture in association with IQAC

Objective: An educational visit to ICAR-CISH (ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture) was organized by Maharishi School of Agriculture (MUIT Lucknow campus) in association with IQAC on 17^th September 2025 with aim to provide practical exposuere to students on Horticultural crops (Production Practices, Research and Post-harvest Technology) thereby linking their academic learning.

Participating Students: 50 Students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and M.Sc. Horticulture 1^st Semester.

Visit Details: The visit starteds with introductory session on identification of horticultural crops, types of varieties developed by various breeding methods. Students then visited CISH museum, where they learned about various training systems of mango, guava, grapes etc. After visiting the museum students went on CISH experimental field and observed the crops training system and various design of experiment which was used for conducting the trials on field.

Throughout the visit, Fruit Scientist Dr. Shushil Kumar Shukla interact with students and explaining the characteristics of fruits crop, different innovative technology like; organic fruit production, multiple cropping, smart fruit production technology. This visit coordinated by faculty members-Dr. Dheeraj Yadav, Dean-MSOA  and Dr. Sharvan Kumar, Assistant Professor, MSOA.

Students Feedback:  The students expressed enthusiasm and satisfaction with the visit. They seeing how to plants are trained and how to graft the plant for regeneration of new plant. The expert demonstration was fruitful and many students felt motivated to choose carrier in agriculture.
