Educational Visit to ICAR-IIPR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research- Indian Institute of Pulse Research) Kanpur

Organized by: Maharishi School of Agriculture in association with IQAC

Objective: An educational visit ICAR-IIPR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Institute of Pulse Research), Kanpur was organized by Maharishi School of Agriculture (MUIT Lucknow campus) in association with IQAC on 14^th October 2025 with aim to provide practical exposure to students on various pulses crops and technology (production practices and research) thereby linking their academic learning.

Participating Students: Students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture-III semester, M.Sc. (Ag.) Agronomy and M. Sc. Horticulture first Semester.

Visit Details: During the visit, students explored the Genomic Editing Laboratory, where Mr. Prateek Singh, Research Scholar, delivered an engaging session on gene functions, genetic modification, and the use of advanced laboratory instruments. In the Basic Science Division, Dr. Kalpna Tiwari, Scientist, demonstrated the process of protein estimation and discussed the role of nutritional evaluation in improving crop quality.

The students then visited the Crop Improvement Division, where Dr. Vishal Dinkar, Scientist, explained various breeding techniques, varietal development, and approaches for enhancing yield and disease resistance in pulses. The visit concluded at the Division of Crop Production and Farm Power Machinery, where Dr. Manmohan Dev, Scientist and In-Charge, introduced different types of farm equipment and highlighted the use of drones in precision agriculture.

The visit was successfully coordinated by Dr. Ashish Nath, Assistant Professor, MSOA.

Students’ feedback:  The students expressed enthusiasm and satisfaction with the visit. Interactions with scientists deepened their understanding of practical applications beyond classroom theory. Observing the laboratories and field research enhanced their appreciation of current advancements in Agriculture
