Event Details: A special visit was organised to various intitutions to mark World Mental Health Day on 15th October 2025 by the Maharishi School of Humanities, MUIT Lucknow Campus, in association with IQAC. As part of this initiative, the students visited three institutions along Raebareli Road—Mahanmana Shikshan Sansthan, Seva Samarpan Sansthan, and Prakriti Bharti.
The first visit took place at Mahamana Shikshan Sansthan, an organization dedicated to the upliftment of underprivileged students by providing free education and guidance to those preparing for competitive exams such as JEE and NEET. The team received a warm welcome from community members Sri Venkatesh, Mr. Surgayendra Shukla, and Mr. Vijay Tiwari. The session began with a soulful prayer by the students, followed by an insightful talk by Mr. Gaurav Thakur on Transcendental Meditation and its importance in maintaining mental well-being. The BA and MA Psychology students presented a thoughtful skit based on the World Health Organization’s theme, “Mental Health in Humanitarian Emergencies,” and also delivered a short presentation dispelling myths and highlighting facts about mental health to help the audience distinguish between misconceptions and realities. They further conducted psychological assessments using tools such as the Anxiety, Depression, and Stress Scale (ADSS) and the Johari Window. The BSW and MSW students showcased creative posters and pamphlets focused on mental health awareness, explaining ways to cope with uncertainty, manage emotions, and support others during crisis. The session concluded with a group photograph and the distribution of snacks, marking a meaningful end to the visit.
The second visit was to Seva Samarpan Sansthan, which educates and provides residential facilities for tribal and underprivileged students from classes 6–12. Managed by Shri Kamlesh Singh and Mr. Om Prakash Barnawal, the Sansthan currently houses about 70 of its 100 students. The visit began with Shri Kamlesh Singh sharing the institution’s inspiring mission, followed by Transcendental Meditation session by Mr. Gaurav Thakur. Dr. Rupam Singh then delivered a motivational talk on mental health. The visit concluded with MUIT students organizing fun games and distributing small gifts, spreading joy and encouragement among the children. The event ended with snacks and tea prepared by the Sansthan students, making the visit a heartwarming experience that allowed MUIT students to connect with the warmth and positivity of the tribal children.
The third and final destination of the day was Prakriti Bharti, a serene eco-park filled with trees and plants, aimed at helping students connect with nature and appreciate its role in mental well-being. Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by Mr. Ram Naresh, who explained the park’s natural growth approach, allowing plants to flourish freely in harmony with nature. Before leaving, the head member introduced the group of women who were making diyas from cow dung. The head explained that a layer of soil was added to the diyas to prevent them from burning completely. The students enthusiastically supported their eco-friendly initiative by purchasing several packets of diyas, which delighted the head and artisans. A major highlight of the visit was a session on Transcendental Meditation conducted by Mr. Gaurav Thakur.
Students’ feedback: The students appreciated the warm hospitality, meaningful interactions, and engaging activities, which offered a heartwarming perspective on life, compassion, and mental well-being, while the serene environment left them feeling refreshed and peaceful.
