Organised by: Maharishi School of Sciences and the Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of MUIT Lucknow Campus, in association with IQAC and MIRC

Objective: On 27th October 2025, marking the occasion of CSIR Foundation Day, the Maharishi School of Sciences (MSOS) and the Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSOPS) of MUIT Lucknow Campus, in association with IQAC and MIRC, organized an educational visit to the CSIR–Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI), Lucknow. The objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the working environment of a premier national research institute, enhance their understanding of ongoing biomedical and pharmaceutical research, and encourage interest in translational research and innovation.

Participating Students: B.Sc. I Semester Biotechnology students from MSOS and B. Pharm VII Semester students from MSOPS

Visit Details: During the visit, the students attended an enlightening lecture organized under the CSIR Foundation Day Lecture cum Translational Research Lecture Series. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Shalimar (MD, DNB, DM – Gastroenterology, AIIMS, New Delhi) on the topic “Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD): The Silent Killer.”

The lecture provided valuable insights into the causes, molecular mechanisms, and clinical implications of MASLD. It also highlighted preventive approaches and emphasized the importance of translational research in developing effective treatment strategies for metabolic and liver diseases.

The session was graced by Dr. Radha Rangarajan, Director, CSIR-CDRI, who appreciated the enthusiasm and inquisitiveness of the students. She encouraged them to explore careers in research and highlighted how translational research serves as a bridge between laboratory discoveries and clinical healthcare advancements.

In addition to the lecture, students had the opportunity to interact with the scientists. This interaction helped them understand the institute’s contributions to drug discovery, biomedical innovation, and disease research. The visit was efficiently coordinated by Faculty Coordinators – Dr. Kirti Singh, Mr. Aman Agrahari, and Mrs. Saumya Srivastava, who ensured smooth organization and active student engagement throughout the program.
