Date of Event: 30th October 2025
Organised by: Maharishi University of Information Technology in association with IQAC
Objective: The Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT) campus successfully hosted a critical awareness event focused on Nari Shakti Facilities and Women Safety on Thursday, October 30, 2025. The event was held at the MUIT Campus and was conducted by an Official Delegation from the Police Department, featuring both senior male and female officers. The primary objective of hosting this safety awareness campaign aimed to empower female students by providing essential knowledge about personal safety, proactive measures, and strategies to prevent crime in both physical and digital environments.
Participating Students: Female students, faculty, and staff members of MUIT.
Event Details: The Nari Shakti and Women Safety awareness program was conducted by a dedicated team from the local Police Department, featuring both a senior male officer and a female officer, ensuring a balanced and comprehensive discussion on gender-specific safety issues. The event commenced with a brief introduction emphasizing the university's commitment to student safety. The police officers then took the stage, initiating a dynamic discussion centred on real-world scenarios and departmental resources.
Key discussions included Safety Protocols, where the speakers detailed practical steps for ensuring personal safety while commuting, residing in hostels, and utilizing public spaces. The officers provided targeted information on online safety and cyber-crime, focusing on digital footprints, privacy settings, and recognizing phishing or social engineering scams, clarifying that cybercrime is a serious offense and that students should report it immediately. The officers underscored the importance of the police's special initiatives for women in complaint mechanisms, providing detailed instructions on how and when to use helpline numbers such as 1090 and other emergency contact details. A significant focus was placed on Addressing Hesitancy by breaking the social stigma and fear often associated with approaching the police.
The officers shared specific examples of issues the police force has successfully managed related to women, emphasizing that the department's priority is protection and swift response, and explicitly urged the students to be aware and unhesitant in seeking help. The core of the event was a highly engaging Interactive Question and Answer (Q&A) session where students actively participated, posing questions related to digital evidence collection, legal rights during street harassment, and the procedure for filing anonymous complaints. The officers addressed all queries patiently, providing clarity and confidence-building assurance.
Feedback: The feedback gathered immediately following the event from the participants was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the program’s effectiveness and immediate impact. Many students expressed increased confidence, noting that the direct interaction with the police officers significantly boosted their faith in the system and reduced the fear of reporting incidents, particularly due to the supportive female officer. The detailed session on cybercrime led to a notable clarity on cybercrime, with students confirming they now have a much clearer understanding of the risks involved in social media usage and the specific steps required to file a cyber-complaint.
