Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan-2025

Objective: In compliance with the UGC notification (2-73/2023(CPP-II) (C.137463) regarding Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA)-2025, Maharishi University of Information Technology, Lucknow Campus organized an impactful awareness programme on 17/11/2025 to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage them to adopt a disciplined, healthy, and addiction-free lifestyle. The initiative also sought to build responsibility among youth, promote mental well-being, and foster a drug-free academic environment.

Event Details: The programme began with a motivating address by Dr. Vikas Kumar Shukla, Dean Students’ Welfare, who highlighted the rising concern of substance abuse among youth and stressed the importance of awareness, discipline, and preventive measures. Dr. Shukla also presented the significance of Meditation, sports and Yoga besides other activities for healthy lifestyle. He gave insights on how regular meditation reduces stress, enhances emotional stability, and lowers the chances of addiction. Various studies establishing that TM helps to reduce substance abuse by helping to deal with underlying psychological and physiological factors, were shared with students. Mr. Ajay Kumar (a trained Yoga teacher and faculty of Maharishi School of Science of Consciousness) shared the benefits of regular yoga for health and fitness. He also told about regular sessions of Yoga being conducted in the campus and that more students can enrol for their benefit.  Following this, Dr. Vijay Srivastava (Asstt Professor, MSOH) emphasized the significance of mental well-being, positive decision-making, and self-control in maintaining a drug-free lifestyle. The Chief Proctor Dr. Pawan Dixit shared real-life examples on the severe consequences of drug abuse, leaving a strong and thoughtful impression on students. He also administered the pledge for Drug de-addiction to all the students and faculty. The event concluded with National Anthem. The session successfully conveyed essential information on drug abuse prevention and promoted awareness regarding mental well-being, meditation, and healthy lifestyle practices.

Students’ Feedback: The awareness programme created a positive and reflective atmosphere among students. They appreciated the motivational sessions, meditation guidance, and real-life examples shared by the speakers. Many students expressed that the event strengthened their understanding of the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraged them to adopt a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lifestyle.

The Committee also acknowledges the dedicated effort of Dr. Vikas Kumar Shukla, Dean Students’ Welfare, Chief Proctor, Dr. Pawan Dixit, Transcendental Meditation Faculty and Dr. Vijay Srivastava for their valuable contributions and impactful sessions that deeply enriched the programme.
