Workshop cum Hands-on-Practice on Solar Energy System

Date of Event: 3rd December, 2025

Organised by: Maharishi School of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow

(in association with SESI and IQAC)

Objective: The Maharishi School of Engineering and Technology, MUIT Lucknow Campus in association with the Solar Energy Society of India (SESI) and IQAC, successfully conducted a Workshop and Hands-on Practice on Solar Energy Systems on December 03, 2025. The primary objective of the workshop was to equip engineering students with comprehensive knowledge and practical exposure to solar energy systems, thereby enhancing their understanding of renewable energy technologies and their real-world applications.

Participant Students: B. Tech (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering 3rd and 5th semesters).

Event Details: The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Namrta Sen (Technical Assistant & Solar Trainer, UPNEDA, Lucknow). She delivered an engaging and insightful session covering the fundamentals of solar photovoltaic technology, key components of solar energy systems, types of installations, system configuration, and their applications in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Her detailed explanation of on-grid, off-grid, and hybrid solar systems enabled students to clearly understand various practical deployment scenarios. Participants were also introduced to various government schemes, yojanas, and solar subsidy programs, which broadened their awareness of national policies and financial incentives promoting solar energy adoption. This information helped students bridge the gap between technological concepts and real-world implementation frameworks.

A major highlight of the event was the hands-on training session, where students gained practical exposure to solar panels, testing instruments, and servicing tools. They observed real-time procedures related to performance testing, fault detection, installation alignment, and safety measures, thereby acquiring essential field-level skills crucial for their future professional careers.

The event was successfully coordinated by faculty members - Mr. Neeraj Das, Dr. Adesh Kumar Mishra, and Dr. Shweta Singh.

Students Feedback: Students highly appreciated the workshop for its clear explanations, practical demonstrations, and hands-on learning activities. They found the session extremely informative and helpful in understanding the real-world applications of solar energy technology. The insights shared on government schemes and subsidies were especially valued. Overall, participants expressed satisfaction and showed keen interest in attending more such practical and industry-oriented workshops in the future.

Acknowledgements: Gratitude to Mrs. Namrta Sen (Technical Assistant & Solar Trainer, UPNEDA, Lucknow) for delivering an informative and engaging session on solar energy systems. We also extend our gratitude to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (Prof. Bhanu Pratap Singh), Registrar (Dr. Girish Chhimwal), Dean Academics (Dr. Neeraj Jain, Lucknow Campus), Dean MSOET (Dr. Kalyan Acharjya), and Dy Dean MSOET (Dr. Rakesh Kumar Yadav). We also thank Sr. AO (Dr. Rajesh Singh) for their continued support and encouragement in organizing this workshop.
