Visit to CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow

Date of Visit: 29th October 2025

Organised by: Maharishi School of Sciences in association with IQAC

Objective: On October 29, 2025, the Maharishi School of Sciences (MUIT, Lucknow Campus), in association with IQAC and MIRC, organized an industrial visit for B.Sc. and M.Sc. Zoology students to the CSIR–Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR–IITR), Lucknow, with the aim of providing practical exposure to advanced research facilities in the field of toxicology and to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world research applications, helping students understand modern tools, techniques, and opportunities in the field of toxicology.

Participating Students: B.Sc. and M.Sc. Zoology students

Visit Details: Upon arrival at the institute, the students were first introduced to its research activities and facilities through an introductory video. This was followed by visits to the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) facilities. They then explored the Toxicoinformatics Computer Centre, where they attended an introductory lecture on Computational Toxicology, highlighting various computational tools used in toxicological research. In addition, the students visited the Flow Cytometry facility, Environmental Toxicology laboratory, and the Cell Culture laboratory of the institute.

The visit provided an opportunity to students to connect theoretical concepts with cutting-edge laboratory practices and current research trends in toxicology. The visit was successfully coordinated by Faculty Members — Dr. Sneha Verma and Dr. Ramakant.

Students’ Feedback: The students conveyed strong enthusiasm and satisfaction regarding the visit. They valued the opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to advanced microscopy techniques (TEM and SEM) and to interact with scientists on real-world research challenges. The experience inspired them to consider future career opportunities in toxicology, biotechnology, and environmental sciences. Overall, the visit was regarded as highly informative, enriching, and motivating.

Acknowledgements: The Maharishi School of Sciences expresses its sincere gratitude to the Dr. Bhaskar Narayan, Director, CSIR–IITR, Lucknow, for providing permission and extending their support during the visit.
