Coordination of IIRS-ISRO Online Programme by
Nodal Centre, Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT), Lucknow

Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT), Lucknow, has been established as a registered Nodal Centre to coordinate with the Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Outreach Programme. IIRS-ISRO is a premier institute set up to develop trained professionals in the fields of Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, and GPS Technology for Agriculture Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Monitoring, and Disaster Management.
To facilitate the functioning of the Nodal Centre, promote industry-enabled capacity building, support the start-up community, and enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the geospatial domain, MUIT participated in the online programme titled "Geospatial Technology for Digital Agriculture," held from June 26–28, 2024. Various students from different institutes and academicians participated under the MUIT Nodal Centre.
MUIT, as a Nodal Centre, manages registration and monitors attendance for the training program. The day-to-day activities are coordinated by Dr. Gaurav Shukla (Nodal Coordinator), with support from Dr. Kalyan Acharjya (Dean of Engineering) and Prof. Neeraj Jain (Dean of Academics), under the guidance of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bhanu Pratap Singh.
This course highlights the relevance of geospatial technology in agriculture and related fields. It provides practical insights into how geospatial tools can be used for various purposes, such as monitoring crop health, yield estimation, maximizing production, soil analysis, calculating vegetation indices, using topographical data to understand elevation variations and their impact on agriculture, and mapping and analyzing land use and vegetation cover for better agricultural planning.
