The "World Cancer Day" event held on February 4, 2025, at the Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MUIT Lucknow Campus in association with IQAC, was a commendable initiative to raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of timely medical intervention.
The program commenced with Guru pujan followed by felicitation of the Chief Guest Dr. Shalini Singh from Regency Hospital, Lucknow, and her team for their valuable contributions and commitment to advancing cancer treatment and awareness.
The program progressed ahead with a welcome note delivered by Dean-MSOPS, Dr. Shikhar Verma, followed by inspiring addresses from Dean Academics, Dr. Neeraj Jain; Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Sapan Asthana; who shared words of encouragement and wisdom. Dr. Shalini Singh delivered an engaging and insightful expert talk, highlighting advancements in cancer treatment, the importance of lifestyle modifications, and specialized mentoring on various types of cancer, particularly those affecting women.
The event featured a series of well-structured programs designed to engage and educate participants on various aspects of cancer awareness and treatment. Students from different semesters of B. Pharm and D. Pharm delivered presentations highlighting the causes, risk factors, and preventive measures for cancer, emphasizing the importance of early screening and regular health check-ups. Skits based on the theme "Kark Nishedh Bharat Vishesh", performed by various student groups resonated emotionally with the audience, exploring the societal and emotional dimensions of cancer and its impact on individuals and families. Dr. Kanu Priya Verma and Dr. Ravikant Kushwaha evaluated the skit competition, while Dr. Dheeraj Yadav and Dr. Pavan Kumar assessed the awareness presentations.
Participants and winners of various competitions were recognized and awarded by esteemed dignitaries, with certificates and awards for their exceptional contributions. The skit competition winners included Team Anshu Verma (B. Pharm 6th Sem), who secured the first prize, followed by Team Shweta Singh (D. Pharm 2nd year) with the second prize, and Team Vaibhav Singh Kushwaha (B. Pharm 2nd Sem) with the third. In the awareness presentation category, Swarnima Shukla (D. Pharm 1st Year) won the first prize, followed by Raj Kasaudhan (B. Pharm 4th Sem) in second place, and Nazish Anjum (B. Pharm 4th Sem) in third. A group photograph was taken to capture the memories of success and essence of the event, followed by National Anthem, concluded the event.
The school extends its gratitude to Dr. Shalini Singh from Regency Hospital, Lucknow, along with dignitaries, faculty, and students for their invaluable contributions. A special note of gratitude is extended to Hon’ble Chancellor Shri. Ajay Prakash Shrivastava, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bhanu Pratap Singh, and Registrar Dr. Girish Chhimwal for their support, as well as Sr. AO Dr. Rajesh Singh, faculty coordinators Mrs. Deepika Gupta, Mr. Shubham Bhatt, and other team members for ensuring the event’s success. The dedicated efforts of student volunteers are also highly appreciated.
