Panel Discussion on “Different Perspectives on Indian Budget 2025”

Department of Humanities, Maharishi School of Science and Humanities, MUIT Lucknow Campus in association with IQAC Cell organized a Panel Discussion on “Different Perspectives on Indian Budget 2025” on 12th February 2025. The primary objective of the panel discussion was to provide students with a comprehensive platform to explore and analyze diverse perspectives on the Indian economy, particularly focusing on the Indian Budget 2025. The distinguished panelists for the discussion included highly experienced Professors in the field of Economics from most reputed academic institutes of Lucknow-Dr. Gunjan Pandey (Professor and Head, Department of Economics, BSNV PG College, Lucknow), Dr. Manjula Upadhyaya, Principal, Navyug Girls Degree College, Lucknow), and Dr. Madhu Tandon (Professor and Head, Department of Economics, DAV College, Lucknow).

The program commenced with Guru Pujan ceremony followed by the welcome of resource persons by Dean Academics Dr. Neeraj Jain , Dean MSOSH Dr. Rupam Singh, and Dean Student Welfare Dr. Sapan Asthana presenting them with mementos as a token of appreciation. Then moderator Dr. Vijay Srivastava introduced all the distinguished panelists.

 The discussion began with Dr. Gunjan Pandey highlighting the significance of leveraging India's demographic dividend. She emphasized the potential of youth-centric schemes to propel economic growth and the need for policies that cater specifically to the aspirations and needs of younger generations.

 Then Dr. Manjula Upadhyaya, took the discussion ahead and focused on the allocation of resources in the 2025 budget for the agricultural sector and its allied fields, underscoring the critical role of agriculture in achieving sustainable economic growth.

Dr. Madhu Tandon discussed the concept of gender-based budgeting, showcasing various initiatives designed to promote gender equality and empower women economically and socially.

There was an interactive Q&A session where students posed thought-provoking questions, sharing their viewpoints and perspectives on the budget. This engagement not only enriched the discussion but also reinforced students’ understanding of economic policies and their implications in real-world scenarios. The students and faculty members from various disciplines, including humanities and science, actively participated in this insightful event.

 The session was moderated by Dr. Vijay Srivastava, Associate Professor, DOH (MSOSH), and the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Kanu Priya Verma.

The organizers express their profound gratitude to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bhanu Pratap Singh, Registrar Dr. Girish Chhimwal,  Sr. Administrative Officer Dr. Rajesh Singh, and other faculty members whose collaborative efforts ensured a seamless execution of the program.
