Industrial Visit to Jaishiv Construction Pvt. Ltd., Lucknow
Date of Visit: 25th February, 2025
Organised by: Maharishi School of Engineering and Technology
Objective:The Maharishi School of Engineering & Technology, MUIT Lucknow Campus, successfully organized an industrial visit Jaishiv Construction Pvt. Ltd., Lucknow, on 25th February, 2025.The purpose of the visit was to provide the Civil and Mechanical Engineering students with practical exposure to construction processes, management, and mechanical applications. It will help bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world implementation, enhance understanding of materials and equipment, and introduce students to safety and quality standards. Additionally, this visit offers an opportunity to interact with industry professionals project and gain insights into career prospects.
Participating Students:Diploma, B. Tech students from Department of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Maharishi School of Engineering & Technology, MUIT Lucknow
Visit Details:During the visit, students gained valuable hands-on experience at a bridge construction site and a concrete mixing plant. At the bridge construction site, they gained insights into the principles of load distribution, structural stability, and reinforcement detailing. They observed various phases of bridge construction, including formwork installation, reinforcement placement, and concrete pouring. The role of different materials such as steel, concrete, and composites in bridge construction was also studied. Additionally, students learned about soil testing procedures, foundation types such as pile, pier, and caisson, and their impact on bridge stability. They also had the opportunity to learn about project scheduling, resource allocation, and site safety protocols involved in construction management and planning.
At the concrete mixing plant, students observed the step-by-step process of batching, mixing, and transporting ready-mix concrete. They gained knowledge of testing techniques such as slump tests, compressive strength tests, and moisture content analysis as part of the quality control measures. The properties and significance of cement, aggregates, admixtures, and water in concrete production were also studied. Students understood the workings of automated batching plants, storage silos, and conveyor systems used in plant operations and management. Furthermore, they learned about sustainability practices in concrete production, such as waste reduction, recycling of materials, and energy-efficient practices.
The visit was successfully coordinated by Dr. Kalyan Acharjya, Dr. Gaurav Shukla, Mr. Anupam K. Gautam and Mrs. Pooja Shukla.
Through this experience, students developed a practical understanding of structural engineering and construction methodologies. They gained valuable hands-on exposure to the workings of a bridge construction site and concrete plant operations, providing them with insights into the complexities of construction. The importance of quality control and testing was emphasized, highlighting their role in ensuring durable and safe construction. Additionally, students learned about sustainable construction practices, understanding their significance in minimizing environmental impact. Overall, the experience enhanced their knowledge of project management, safety protocols, and the real-world application of engineering principles in construction projects.
