Objective:The Department of Humanities (Maharishi School of Science & Humanities), MUIT Lucknow Campus, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Association of Knowledge Workers Lucknow (AKWL), hosted an enlightening expert talk on "Recent Trends & Patterns in Indian Economy" on February 3, 2025. This thought-provoking event aimed to nurture higher-order critical thinking skills among students by immersing them in contemporary economic trends, dissecting their policy implications, and addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by the Indian economy today.
Participating Students:The audience consisted of over 100 students from various academic backgrounds, including economics, sociology, and agriculture, who participated with enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity.
Event Details:The event commenced with Guru Pujan ceremony followed by welcome of resource persons Prof. B. K. Bajpai and Dr. Manoj Joshi, by Deputy Dean (Academics) Dr. Kalyan Acharya and Dean of MSOSH, Dr. Rupam Singh, presenting them with memento as tokens of appreciation and recognition for their valuable contributions. The session featured esteemed Prof. B. K. Bajpai, former Director of the Giri Institute of Development Studies (GIDS) in Lucknow delivering the talk which was moderated by Dr. Manoj Joshi (Vice President of AKWL).
Prof. Bajpai delivered a compelling presentation that meticulously examined the stark economic disparities prevalent across India. Drawing on a wealth of empirical data and real-world case studies, he highlighted the pivotal role of effective governance in mitigating these inequalities, encouraging students to reflect critically on the intersection of policy and socioeconomic outcomes. The discussion expertly moderated by Prof. Joshi, enriched the session with multidisciplinary approach on the country's dynamic economic landscape. Mr. Satyendra, Secretary of AKWL, was also present on the occasion.
The rich array of perspectives contributed to vibrant discussions on pressing topics such as economic reforms, structural transformations within vital sectors, and forward-looking policy directions shaping the future of the Indian economy.
Towards the end of the session, Dr. Vijay Srivastava offered a succinct yet impactful summary, encapsulating the key insights gleaned from the discussions and emphasizing the urgent need for innovative policy frameworks that promote inclusive economic growth. The session concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Sarita Verma.
