Industrial Visit to Remote Sensing & Application Center, Lucknow
Date of Visit: 11th March, 2025
Organised by: Maharishi School of Engineering and Technology
Objective:The Maharishi School of Engineering & Technology, MUIT Lucknow Campus, successfully organized an industrial visit to Remote Sensing & application Centre on 11th March, 2025. The visit aimed to enhance students' understanding of how advanced technologies are applied in geo-informatics and data analysis.
Participating Students:The visit was conducted for B. Tech students from Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) branch of 4th and 6th semester.
Visit Details:During the visit, students gained valuable experience in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), providing them with practical exposure to real-world applications of remote sensing, data management, and artificial intelligence. The students had the opportunity to witness and understand real-time processes, starting with a visit to the Software Research & Development Lab, where they learned about the latest software tools and platforms used for creating remote sensing and geo-informatics applications. Mr. Rajeev Sonkar, a scientist at the lab, gave an overview of the lab's main projects and current research work.
They also explored the Computer Image Processing & Data Management Lab, where they learned how satellite and aerial images are processed. The focus was on techniques for handling large datasets and extracting useful patterns in image data. Mr. Deepanshu Rastogi, another scientist at the lab, explained how data is stored, retrieved and analyzed for geospatial purposes in the Data Center and Geo-informatics Lab. The students witnessed firsthand how geo-informatics tools are applied in mapping, disaster management, and environmental monitoring.
During the expert interaction and guidance sessions, Mr. Sushil Chandra, Scientist SF and Head of the CIP & DM Division, welcomed the students and shared valuable insights into the role of remote sensing and data management in scientific research and development. Ms. Shaswat, Scientist at the CIP & DM, explained the fundamentals and practical applications of remote sensing, emphasizing its significance in various industries. Dr. Pragarti, Scientist SF and Head of the CIP & DM, discussed the integration of artificial intelligence with remote sensing and geo-spatial data, highlighting how AI is transforming data analysis and decision-making in this domain.
The visit's learning outcomes included a comprehensive understanding of remote sensing technology and its real-world applications. Students were exposed to the latest tools and techniques used in image processing and geo-informatics and gained valuable insights into how artificial intelligence enhances data analysis and predictive modelling. The visit also raised awareness of career opportunities in the field of remote sensing and data science. The visit was successfully coordinated by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Ms. Preeti Naval and Mrs. Pooja Shukla.
Students’ feedback:The industrial visit was an excellent opportunity for students to connect their academic learning with practical applications in Remote Sensing and GIS. It provided them with valuable insights into the complexities of remote sensing technology and data management, which will be beneficial for their future careers. The visit to RSAC Lucknow was both informative and thought-provoking, offering students a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in the industry and the innovative solutions being implemented. The expert guidance from scientists and researchers further helped students bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world industry practices, preparing them for the professional world ahead.
