Fit India Movement- Sunday on Cycle

Organised by: National Service Scheme, MUIT Lucknow Campus (in coordination with IQAC)
Objective:
On 4th May, The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Maharishi University of Information Technology, Lucknow Campus, organized the event "Sunday on Cycle". The event was held under Fit India Movement initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The primary objectives of the "Sunday on Cycle" event were to promote fitness and an eco-friendly lifestyle among students, aligning with the Fit India Movement and UGC guidelines. Specifically, the event aimed to raise awareness about cycling as a simple, accessible, sustainable, inclusive, and environment-friendly form of exercise, encouraging students to adopt healthier habits.

Event Details:
The "Sunday on Cycle" event commenced on the morning of 4th May, with over 50 students gathering at the designated starting point within the MUIT Lucknow campus. Dr. Vikas Kumar Shukla formally welcomed all attendees, setting the positive tone for the event. The participants embarked on a 3 km cycling route, actively promoting the message of fitness and environmental consciousness as they pedaled. Dr. Sapan Asthana addressed the students, emphasizing the benefits of cycling for a healthier life.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sapan Asthana, Programme Officer and Dean Students Welfare acknowledging the contributions of everyone involved in making the event a success, followed by the National Anthem. The event successfully created awareness about the importance of physical activity and sustainable practices.
Student’s Feedback:
Students who participated in "Sunday on Cycle" expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative. Many found it to be a fun and engaging way to promote fitness and environmental consciousness. They appreciated the opportunity to come together, cycle, and learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Several students mentioned that the event motivated them to incorporate cycling into their daily routines.
