Report on Orientation Program

Venue –Auditorium, MUIT Lucknow Campus
The Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT) held a comprehensive Orientation Program from August 1 to August 3, 2024, to welcome and integrate new students into its new academic environment and familiarize them with their surroundings and the system. The event took place at the MUIT Auditorium, Lucknow Campus and was structured to accommodate different departments and programs in two shifts each day. The program was organized by IQAC, MUIT; coordinated by the Deans of respective Schools.
The general outline for the program included registration of new students. On registration, they received received orientation kits containing Student Handbook and other stationery. The handbook contained essential information about the University, including its vision, mission, University officials, various schools/ departments, academic programs, various important forms, etc.
The program then commenced with Guru puja, and included addresses by various dignitaries, interaction with various dept. heads, familiarization with school/ dept. Dean/ Dy Dean, faculty, resources, and also cultural programs and culminating with refreshments.
The distinguished dignitaries who addressed the new students during the Orientation Program included - Hon’ble Chancellor, Hon’ble Director General, and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor. Besides this the students were also addressed by Dean Academics/ Dy Dean Academics, Deans of respective schools; interaction with TM teachers, Placement Cell Head, Incubation Cell Head, Chief Proctor, DSW, and respective school’s faculty members. The event also included cultural programs, and refreshments.
The address by Hon’ble Chancellor and Hon’ble DG was in online mode, through a audio-visual message. Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Ajay Prakash Shrivastava, in his address, blessed the students and conveyed his best wishes and focused on apprising the students about Transcendental Meditation technique and its benefits. Hon’ble DG Prof. (Gp. Capt.) O. P. Sharma, in his address, blessed the students, conveyed his best wishes and focused on accountability and holding responsibility and discharging one’s duties as a student. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. B. P. Singh welcomed the students, conveyed his best wishes and emphasized on motivating them to focus on academics and career building on priority, so as to make their parents, teachers and society proud of them.
Dean Academics (Lucknow Campus), Dr. Neeraj Jain welcomed the students, conveyed her best wishes and apprised them about the importance of Orientation program, academic environment etc. She also assured the students to feel safe in the campus and seek support and guidance whenever required, without hesitation.
The orientation program was attended not only be new students but also the parents and guardians of some of the students who also could therefore witness the enriching environment of the University and could gather information first hand.
The highlights of Orientation program of different schools/ depts of MUIT Lucknow Campus are as outlined below.
Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
On August 1, 2024, the Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSOPS) at MUIT Lucknow Campus, organized the orientation program for newly admitted B. Pharm and D. Pharm students, from
10:00am onwards. This event marked a memorable occasion for students and faculty alike, held at the University's auditorium.
All the new students registered themselves on arrival for the event. Then the program commenced with Guru Pujan conducted by TM Teachers, followed by Ganesh and Saraswati Vandana.
The key highlights of the program included:
- Dr. Shikhar Verma (Dean, MSOPS) extended a warm welcome to the students on behalf of the school.
- Words of motivation and words of blessings by all dignitaries.
- Introduction to Pharmacy Programs: Mrs. Deepika Gupta (Associate Professor) provided an in-depth presentation about the Pharmacy programs, its scope, opportunities, curriculum, examination pattern, evaluation scheme, University activities, training, placement, incubation, innovation, and University guidelines.
- Motivational and Informational Speeches: Dean Student Welfare Dr. Sapan Asthana and Chief Proctor Dr. Nishant Kumar motivated the students and emphasized the importance of following campus decorum and ensuring safety.
- Guidance from Training & Placement Cell (MIRC): Training & Placement Officer Mr. Kaustubh Misra provided useful information to students through presentation and interaction mode.
- MIIF interaction: Mr. Puneet Pandey (Manager, MIIF) provided information about incubation cell and mentoring and other facilities start up, through power point presentation, thus guiding and motivating the new students for entrepreneurship.
- The program also included an overall tour of the campus and MSOPS facilities.
- The program also included various cultural programs, like Solo Dance Performance by Utsav Gupta, (B. Pharm 7th semester), informative skit by Senior B. Pharm and D. Pharm students highlighting the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system.
- Vote of thanks was proposed by Deputy Dean (MSOPS), Dr. Prakash Deep who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries for their blessings and encouraging words. A special thanks was given to Mrs. Deepika Gupta and Mr. Shubham Bhatt for coordinating the event, class coordinators Mrs. Ankita Mishra and Miss Anchal Srivastava, anchor Miss Pagati Mishra, and all faculty members and student volunteers who contributed to the event’s success.
- The program concluded with the National Anthem, and group photograph, followed by refreshment.
Maharishi School of Business Management (MSOBM)
On 1st August 2024, the Maharishi School of Business Management (MSOBM) held its Orientation Program at the MUIT Lucknow Campus, from 2:00pm onwards. The event aimed at welcoming new students and acquainting them with the campus, featured a series of activities designed to introduce the University's faculty, values, and resources.
The program began with the registration of new students from the MBA, BBA, B. Com, and M. Com programs. The formal start of the induction program was marked by a traditional lamp lighting ceremony and a performance of Ganesh Vandana by a student.
Event Highlights
- Welcome Address: Dr. Sandhya Sinha (Dean, MSOBM) extended a warm welcome to the new students, introducing them to the University's ethos and aspirations.
- Words of Blessings by all dignitaries: Distinguished University dignitaries shared their blessings and motivational words.
- Dr. Shilpa Sewak (Assistant Professor), introduced the students to the various aspects of the MSOBM, highlighting the faculty, curriculum, and available resources.
- Interactive Session: Dr. Sapan Asthana, DSW, engaged the students in an interactive session.
- Proctorial Board Insights: Dr. Nishant Kumar, Chief Proctor, provided insights into the Proctorial Board.
- MIRC Session: It was an informative session led by Mr. Kaustubh Mishra.
- MIIF Talk: Delivered by Mr. Puneet Pandey, familiarizing students with different facets of Incubation Cell and Start up culture in the University.
- Cultural Performances: The event featured dance performances by senior students, adding a cultural dimension to the occasion and filled the event with enriching and entertaining vibes.
- Vote of Thanks: Deputy Dean Academics Dr. Kalyan Acharjya expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers, bringing the formal proceedings to a close.
- The event concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
Department of Science (Maharishi School of Science and Humanities)
On 2nd August, 2024, Department of Science (Maharishi School of Science and Humanities) at MUIT Lucknow Campus, organized the Orientation program for newly admitted UG and PG students of Science and Agriculture streams, aiming to welcome the new students and familiarize them with the University campus, department, school and its various resources.
After the registration process, the event commenced with Guru Pujan followed by a series of activities.
Key Addresses and Activities-
- Welcome Address by Dean (MSOSH): Dr. Rupam Singh extended a warm welcome to the new students, highlighting the academic opportunities and support available at MUIT.
- Words of Blessings: by various dignitaries of the University.
- Address by TM Teacher: Mr. Ajay Kumar provided information about Transcendental Meditation and its benefits for students' well-being.
- Presentation by Deputy Dean (MSOSH): Dr. Ramakant presented a comprehensive overview of the University's and school’s history, mission, and resources available to students.
- Message by Chief Proctor: Dr. Nishant Kumar provided an overview of the Proctorial Board and Anti-Ragging Committee, ensuring students' safety and security.
- Message by DSW: Dr. Sapan Asthana addressed the students and ensured them of their wellbeing and continuous guidance through out their stay in the campus.
- Faculty Interaction: Students had the opportunity to interact with faculty members, thus getting further acquainted with their teachers who would be their immediate point of contact.
- Interaction with MIIF and MIRC Heads: Mr. Puneet Pandey (Manager, MIIF) and Mr. Kaustubh Misra (Head, TnP Cell) provided information regarding incubation and Placement Cell, respectively.
- Cultural Programs: the program was interspersed with entertaining cultural programs which relived the monotony and provided a relaxing environment to the students.
- Closing Remarks: Dr. Chintamani Tiwari concluded the program with closing remarks, summarizing the key points and encouraging students to make the most of their time at MUIT. He also proposed a vote of thanks,
- National Anthem and Group Photograph: The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem and a group photograph to commemorate the day.
- Refreshments: The students enjoyed sumptuous refreshment at the end of the program and also interacted informally with their fellow students and seniors.
The well-structured event provided a comprehensive introduction to the University’s culture, values, and resources, ensuring that students felt supported and inspired as they embarked on their academic journey.
Department of Humanities (Maharishi School of Science and Humanities)
On 02 Aug, 2024, the Department of Humanities (Maharishi School of Science and Humanities) at MUIT Lucknow Campus, organized the Orientation Program for newly admitted students of BA, MA, BSW, MSW and B. LiS. The event, commenced at 2:00 PM and it aimed at welcoming new students
and acquainting them with the Campus and its resources.
The event began with the welcoming of dignitaries, followed by floral offering to Maa Saraswati and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and traditional lamp lighting, setting a formal and respectful tone for the
event ahead.
Event Highlights
- Welcome Address by Dean (MSOSH): Dr. Rupam Singh delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of the orientation program in helping students acclimate to University life.
- Blessings by dignitaries: All the distinguished dignitaries showered their blessings and conveyed their best wishes with words of motivation and wisdom.
- University and Department Introduction: Dr. Rupam Singh provided a comprehensive introduction to the University and the Department of Humanities through a detailed presentation, covering the University's history, mission, and infrastructure.
- Talk by Dean Student Welfare: Dr. Sapan Asthana offered support and guidance.
- MIRC Information: Mr. Kaustubh Misra provided information about the Training and Placement Cell, explaining its role and benefits for the students.
- Introduction of Proctorial Board: Chief Proctor Dr. Nishant Kumar, introduced the Proctorial Board, ensuring students of the safety and support provided by the University.
- MIIF Session: Mr. Puneet Pandey conducted a session about the Incubation and Innovation Cell, explaining the facilities and resources available to students.
- Cultural Performances: the program was interspersed with entertaining performances by the senior students which released the tedium and glued the students to their seats. Classical Dance performance by Ankita Gupta (BA Sem. III) was applauded by all and enriched the program with its essence. Neelakshi (BA Sem. V) recited a poem, showcasing the talent of senior students and fostering a sense of camaraderie. A Mono Act performance on anti-ragging by Atharv Sahai added a creative touch to the proceedings.
- The program concluded with the National Anthem and distribution of lunch packets, providing an opportunity for informal interactions among students and faculty.
The combination of formal addresses, interactive sessions, and cultural performances created an engaging and informative experience for all attendees.
Maharishi School of Engineering & Technology
The Maharishi School of Engineering & Technology (MSOET) at MUIT Lucknow Campus, successfully hosted the Orientation Program on the 3rd of August, 2024. This event was designed to welcome new students of B. Tech, M. Tech, Diploma, BCA and MCA helping them integrate into the academic and social life of the University.
New Students Registration & Distribution of Handbook: The event began with the registration of new students, during which handbooks containing essential information about the University were distributed.
Guru Pujan Ceremony & Saraswati Vandana: The program officially commenced with the Guru Pujan ceremony, followed by a devotional hymn dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, invoking blessings for knowledge and wisdom.

- Welcome Address by Dean (MSOET): Dr. Kalyan Acharjiya welcomed the new students, emphasizing the importance of the orientation program in preparing them for their academic journey at MUIT.
- Words of Blessings by the dignitaries: The students were addressed by words of blessings and wisdom by various dignitaries of the University which was highly encouraging for all.
- School Presentation: A detailed Power Point presentation was delivered, providing an overview of the Maharishi School of Engineering & Technology, its mission, vision, and key facilities.
- Interaction with Admission Cell: The Admission Cell Head interacted with students, addressing their queries and providing additional information on University processes.
- Talk by Dean of Student Welfare & Anti-Ragging Committee: Dr. Sapan Asthana discussed student welfare services and highlighted the University's commitment to maintaining a ragging-free environment.
- Student Talk: A few senior students shared their experiences at MUIT, offering guidance and advice to the newcomers.
- Awareness about Proctorial Board: Chief Proctor Dr. Nishant Kumar provided an overview of the Proctorial Board, ensuring students are aware of the support available for maintaining discipline and addressing grievances.
- MIRC Session: Mr. Kaustubh Misra introduced the Maharishi Industry Relations Cell explaining the facilities and resources available to students for placement and training.
- Student Performances: Talented senior students showcased their skills through various performances, adding a cultural and entertaining element to the program.
- Vote of Thanks: A vote of thanks was delivered, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers who contributed to the success of the event.
- National Anthem: The event concluded with the singing of the national anthem.
- Group Photograph: A group photograph was taken to commemorate the occasion, capturing the newly inducted students and faculty.
- Campus Visit: Students were given a guided tour of the campus, familiarizing them with the University's infrastructure and facilities.
Conclusion:
The “Deeksharambh 2024” organised at MUIT Lucknow Campus was a well-structured and custom designed event that was successful in providing new students with a warm welcome and a comprehensive introduction to the academic, cultural, and social aspects of life at MUIT. The combination of insightful speeches, cultural performances, and informative sessions created a memorable and enriching experience for all attendees. The program not only equipped students with essential information but also instilled a sense of belonging and excitement as they embarked on their educational journey at MUIT.
The Deans and their team played an important role in successfully organising the event. The dedication and coordination of the faculty and organizers were instrumental in setting a positive and encouraging tone for the new students, laying a solid foundation for their future success at MUIT.
The organising teams extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished dignitaries- Hon'ble Chancellor Shri Ajay Prakash Shrivastava, Director General Prof. (Group Captain) O. P. Sharma, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Singh, FO Shri Varun Shrivastava and Registrar Dr. Girish Chhimwal for their mentorship and guidance and also for inspiring words and blessings. The team also extends gratitude to TM Teachers, Dean Academics/Dy Dean Academics and all Department Heads for their informative interactions with the students. Last but not the least, the program would not have been a successful without the unwavering and unconditional support of IT team, Sr. AO Rajesh Singh and other admin and support staff.
