Common Digestive Complaints

A webinar entitled “Common Digestive Complaints” was successfully organized by the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences on July 03, 2021. The webinar was inaugurated with virtual lamp lighting and Maa Saraswati Vandana, in presence of the Guest Speaker, Dr.(VD) Rajat Sharma (Senior Ayurveda Consultant, Maharishi Ayurveda, India & Europe), Prof. Sapan Asthana (Dean Academics), Dr. Shikhar Verma (Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences), Mr. Ashutosh Pathak (HOD, Pharmacy), Deans and Faculty Members of all Schools of Maharishi University of Information Technology.

The webinar started with the blessings of Prof. Sapan Asthana (Dean Academics) followed by introduction of the Guest Speaker. Then Dr. Rajat Sharma delivered the lecture on“Common Digestive Complaints”.

Dr. Sharma expressed his concern about the diet in today’s fast placed world which is mainly composed of trans- fats, excess sugars and oil, resulting in an upset stomach. He told that this lead to digestive disorders and other related diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract not only in adults but also in children, teenagers and the elderly persons.

He focused on gastric problems viz., indigestion, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach bloating, acidity, Acid reflux or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), vomiting etc. which are of common concern. He also suggested simple ways to avoid and cure them on the basis of Ayurveda principles. According to Dr. Sharma, diet is very essential in maintaining and enhancing the gut health, preventing complications in the gastrointestinal tract. He told that food items like fennel, cardamom, curd, buttermilk etc. are gut friendly foods.

The webinar was hosted by Ms. Jyoti, (Assistant Professor) and Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. Ashutosh Pathak (HOD, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences).

More than 100 participants including students and Faculty members attended the webinar.
