One day Industrial visit to CSIR - Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP)
A one-day industrial visit to CSIR – Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) was organised on September 26, 2022 (81st CSIR Foundation Day) by the Maharishi School of Science. During the trip the students got an opportunity to visit the Manav Garden, animal house, oil distillation unit, and various laboratories. In the ‘Manav Garden’, Dr. Anil Singh (Department of Agronomy, CSIR-CIMAP) enlightened the students about the importance of aromatic plants for curing various ailments of particular body parts. Dr. Anirban Pal (Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-CIMAP) showed around the animal house and Dr. Sudeep Tandon delivered a lecture about the distillation process of aromatic plants at the Chemical Engineering and Distillation Unit. At Biological Central Facility Lab, Dr. Rajendra Patel and Dr. Anju Kesarwani delivered a lecture about DNA Isolation and Gene Sequencing. At the Expression Lab, Dr. Tripta Jhang and Dr. NP Yadav delivered a short lecture on important by-products of the plants. Then the students visited the Tissue Culture lab, where Dr. Sumit Ghose delivered a short lecture on the tissue culture process. A Participation Certificate in the name of Maharishi University of Information Technology was given by Dr. Ramesh Kumar Srivastava (Principal Scientist and Head Division of Technology Dissemination Division and Computational Biology, CSIR-CIMAP). A total number of 52 students participated in this visit under the Faculty co-ordinators- Dr. Dheeraj Yadav & Dr. Monika Singh.
