Online Workshop for Universities and Colleges on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

“IPR Awareness Program” in collaboration with the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, GoI under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM).

Intellectual Property Rights awareness is vital to Generation of IPRs and then Commercialization of IPRs which is why IPR Awareness is necessary. Outreach and Promotion is the first and foremost objective of the National IPR Policy. There is a need to create IP awareness amongst all sections of societies as IP is creativity of the mind. The Policy envisions an India where students in schools, colleges and universities, industry clusters and citizens across India made aware about their intellectual property Rights.

As suggested by UGC, “IPR Awareness Program” was conducted on 22nd April, 2022 with an aim to impart IPR Awareness/Training to faculty members of MUIT and other participants from across India and few from abroad too.

The resource person was Dr D. Usha Rao is Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs, Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of commerce and Industry.

The session was chaired by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (Prof. B. P. Singh), Dean Academics (Mr. Sapan Asthana) and other dignitaries. Honorable Speaker, Dr D. Usha Rao, discussed about Patents & IPRs, their importance, their protection, identification of IP, advantages of IP, Patenting procedures and time lines, patentable and non-patentable inventions, patent informatics, prior art searches, patentability assessment, trademark and copyright protection etc.

The session concluded with a short online quiz which was participated by attendees very enthusiastically.

The session was managed & moderated by Dr. Kalyan Acharjya (Dean, MSOET), Dr. Gourav Shukla (Faculty member, MSOET), Session Coordinator, Dr. Shweta Singh, Mrs. Sabita Khatri & all other faculty members of MSOET, MUIT, Lucknow.

The Feedback of the participants was also taken and will be considered in future events (if any).

The School of Engineering and Technology (MUIT)will submit the list of attendees to Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, GoI to issue the certificates to the attendees.
