Endocrine Disruptors: Impact on Reproductive Health

Maharishi School of Science organised a webinar on 5th June 2021, on the occasion of World Environment Day. The Guest Speaker for the day was Dr. Anima Tripathi (Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, BHU, Varanasi).

The webinar was hosted by Dr. Neeraj Jain who welcomed the Guest Speaker and the other dignitaries. The webinar started with virtual lamp lighting and puja to seek the blessings of MaaSaraswati, First Chancellor, His Holiness, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ji and all the mentors. Dr. Neeraj invited Dean, Academics, Prof. Sapan Asthana and Dean, Science, Dr. Ramakant to say a few words on the occasion. Prof. Asthana emphasized the role and responsibility of individuals which go hand in hand with the government efforts to save the environment inevery  way. Dr. Neeraj, then, briefly introduced the Guest speaker, Dr. Anima Tripathi. Dr. Tripathi spoke on the topic ‘Endocrine Disruptors: Impact on Reproductive Health’ in which she talked about the health problems caused by plastic products (containing bisphenol), paraben containing products (like cosmetics, deodorants, moisturizers etc.), pesticides etc. supporting it with the results of the laboratory research. She also suggested alternative materials that may be used to reduce and prevent the health impacts. On this occasion, program coordinator Dr. Madhu Prakash Srivastava appealed to the people to plant more trees. Dr. Kanchan Awasthi proposed a vote of thanks and also suggested that one could increase tree plantation by way of donating plants and giving them away as gifts on different occasions. More than 100 participants,including Deans of Schools, Faculty members, and students, attended the webinar.
